What is Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary?

Established in 1947 by Alex Griffiths, this 27-hectare wildlife sanctuary is home to over 900 animals and offers interactive experiences such as hand-feeding kangaroos, cuddling koalas, and unique experiences such as the TreeTop Challenge, where guests can navigate high ropes courses amidst the sanctuary's lush canopy.

Beyond its engaging wildlife interactions, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary operates a state-of-the-art veterinary and rehabilitation hospital that treats thousands of injured wildlife annually.  

The sanctuary also features attractions like the "Lost Valley" precinct, where visitors can explore a replica ancient Gondwanan rainforest, home to exotic species such as lemurs and red pandas. With daily shows, informative exhibits, and a miniature train, Currumbin offers a blend of adventure, education, and conservation.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary has earned accolades for its contributions to tourism and conservation, including the prestigious Queensland Major Tourist Attraction award in 2021. Additionally, the on-site Currumbin Wildlife Hospital treats over 12,000 animals annually, highlighting its commitment to preserving native wildlife.

In March 2025, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary opened Astra Lumina, an immersive nighttime experience where visitors can explore the sanctuary’s bushland through light and sound displays that create a multi-sensory adventure.
